Russell J. A. Jones is the founder of JLF Legal Group and an accomplished trial lawyer with more than two decades of experience representing clients in high-stakes legal matters. Throughout his career, Russell has served as lead counsel in hundreds of jury trials in state and federal courts, developing a reputation for thorough preparation, determined advocacy, and the ability to navigate complex legal problems when the stakes are at their highest.

At the core of Russell’s practice is a deep respect for the jury trial and the constitutional rights it protects. He believes that the right to have a case heard and decided by a jury is one of the most important protections afforded by our legal system. Russell has tried cases ranging from first-degree intentional homicide to misdemeanor matters and has successfully litigated significant constitutional issues on behalf of his clients.

But effective advocacy does not always require a courtroom. Russell’s extensive trial experience informs his approach to negotiation, strategy, and dispute resolution. Knowing how a case will ultimately be presented and defended at trial provides a powerful perspective when evaluating risk, negotiating a resolution, and advising clients about consequential legal and business decisions. His approach is straightforward: understand the client’s objectives, master the facts and law, prepare for every reasonable outcome, and be ready to advocate when necessary.

Russell founded Jones Law Firm in 2008 and built a practice centered on trial advocacy and the protection of his clients’ rights. Today, through JLF Legal Group, he brings the judgment developed through decades of litigation to a broader legal practice serving individuals, entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations. His work includes strategic legal counsel, business and organizational matters, contracts, regulatory and compliance issues, dispute resolution, litigation, and legal matters affecting business growth and access to opportunity.

Russell graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School in 2002. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from York University in Toronto, Ontario.

Russell is licensed to practice in Wisconsin and is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. His applications for admission to practice law in Illinois and Alabama are currently pending.
